“Fra poco tutto cambierà”

Mi piacciono i colori che la tavolozza di Leonardo Leone sprigiona per darci un senso delle cose e degli eventi della vita; mi piacciono anche gli accostamenti, diversi e sottili, che il giovane artista tarantino (per la precisione della messapica Manduria) ricerca per offrirci uno spaccato della vita contemporanea attraverso il pensiero che diviene colore e il colore che diviene parola.

Questa monografia, molto simile ad uno studio di ricerca, si sviluppa nei meandri della vita contemporanea, quasi a voler compiere un viaggio attraverso l’incanto della natura e la ricerca della bellezza; l’incanto della natura è rappresentato dall’albero, mentre la ricerca della bellezza dalla perfezione della sfera.

Sembra quasi volersi inoltrare nel mondo esoterico dove, sia l’uno che l’altro oggetto (che oggetti non sono) si identificano con la ricerca della perfezione interiore. Si accompagnano i due protagonisti e si imitano per poter superare le difficoltà del tempo contemporaneo, per potersi temprare e vivere adeguatamente il passare stesso del tempo, che mai trascorre invano e sembra quasi sfuggire all’uomo.

Ecco allora che l’albero, immagine flessibile e sinuosa, tendente sempre ad elevarsi, rispecchia appieno il concetto della perfezione moderna che vede nelle radici l’analisi, nel tronco la scienza, nel rami e nelle foglie la ricerca, nel frutto l’elaborato finale, sempre innovativo, della tecnologia. Quell’albero, perfetto in natura, ci pone dinanzi un esempio della perfezione divina che l’uomo è chiamato a ricercare; ecco allora che l’uomo deve percorrere lunghi e incerti sentieri affinché possa arrotondarsi al punto tale da divenire una sfera levigata, e la sfera, si sa, è dinamicamente in moto continuo uniforme fino a quando una forza esteriore non l’arresta e la pone nello stato di quiete.

Si trovano, in Leonardo Leone, tutti i suggerimenti artistici del divenire uomo, e uomo lo si diventa solo osservando e imitando la natura, da sempre depositaria di ogni segreto e di ogni spiegazione. L’albero trae dall’aria il suo adeguamento alla realtà; l’uomo trae dall’esempio e dalla volontà il suo rafforzamento nella vita e per la vita futura, quella eterna, almeno continua per gli altri.

Osservare i dipinti di Leonardo Leone significa entrare in questo mondo interiore dell’artista e sentirsi attratto da una serie di immagini che si muovono per consegnare all’uomo il messaggio artistico contemporaneo; in esso si scorge, appunto, la bellezza delle linee che danno vita ai due protagonisti, pur nelle condizioni diverse, e rispettano la luce che conferisce ai colori quel respiro interiore delle cose e quel significato profondo dell’agire contemporaneo, quasi a voler ricongiungere l’arte alla narrativa, la filosofia al pensare naturale, l’uomo alla forza necessaria oggi per vivere.

Nelle sue opere appare evidente la gestazione, quasi un cullare a distanza, e poi l'abbraccio che diviene custodia e quindi il riposo e la veglia continua di mamma albero.

Austero, l'albero continua la sua opera pedagogica tra le difficoltà e i pericoli che la natura può produrre attraverso l'acqua, l'aria, il fuoco, ma anche attraverso alcuni animali, in particolare il serpente come nella iconografia cristiana.

Ecco che il cammino artistico di Leonardo Leone arriva a determinare anche il distacco che appare sereno, pur segnato dal tempo, fino a quando la stessa mamma albero è costretta a fermarsi per trasferire la vita ad altri, forse per rinascere a nuova vita: il progetto sfera è stato portato a termine.

I like the colors Leonardo Leone uses to give us a particular sense of things and of life, and I also like the combination, different and subtle, that the young artist from Taranto (exactly from the Messapian Manduria) searches to offer us a cross-section of contemporary life through thought which becomes color and the colors which become words.

This monograph, very similar to a study research, evolves through the maze of contemporary life, like making a journey through the magic world of nature to quest beauty; the charm of nature is represented by the tree, while the search of beauty by the human perfection, hidden in the sphere.

Our artist seems inclined forward in the esoteric world where both the one and the other object (they are not only objects) identify themselves with the quest for inner perfection. The two protagonists go together and imitate each other in order to overcome the difficulties of the contemporary moment, as well as to strengthen and to live correctly the passing time, which never seems to pass in vain.

That is why the tree image, flexible and sinuous, tending to rise, fully reflects the concept of perfection; in the roots of the tree we can see the modern analysis, in the trunk we can see modern science, in the branches and leaves the search, the final result in the fruit of the new technology and way of thinking. The tree, perfect in nature, presents us as an example of the divine perfection man is called to seek as the man must run long and uncertain path until it becomes a sphere and the sphere, we know, is dynamically in a continuous motion until an external force does not stop and places it at rest.

There are, in Leonardo Leone, all artistic suggestions to become a man and we become men just observing and imitating nature, since ever the store of every secret and every explanation. The tree draws in air its adaptation to reality, man draws it from the examples of good men thanks to their examples and to the will of men who live for the future generation.

Observing the paintings of Leonardo Leone means to enter into his inner world and to feel attracted by a series of moving images which can deliver the message of the contemporary art. In fact, the beauty of the lines that gives life to the two protagonists, in different conditions, but always respecting the light which gives colours the deeper meaning of things and of contemporary, is able to link narrative and art, philosophy and thought, man and the force required to live today.

Like in real life, in the paintings of Leone we can see some important human actions in the movement of the tree and of the sphere. We can see the gestation, the embrace, and hence the vigilance and continuing look of mother tree

The austere tree continues his pedagogical work through the difficulties and dangers nature can produce through water, air and fire, but also by some animals, especially the snake as in the Christian iconography.

The artistic journey of Leonardo Leone gets to determine also the gap between old and modern time, the old and the modern way of living, until mother tree is forced to stop and to transmit his life in the life of others, perhaps to be reborn to a new life: the project sphere has been completed.
